Share of voice in AI answers
Share of voice in AI answers is how often your brand is named compared with the competitors a buyer would actually consider, on the same prompts. It is one of the four signals in AI visibility monitoring. It describes competitive presence, which is part of the AI brand visibility outcome.
What the signal answers
Visibility % can look healthy while every category answer still recommends someone else. Share of voice puts your mentions next to named competitors so that gap is readable. The comparison only means something if the competitors are ones a buyer would actually weigh, and if the prompt set stays stable.
Read it per model. A strong share on one assistant can hide a missing mention on another. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude are separate reads.
Where the metric is used
This page defines the signal. How to collect it, how often to repeat it, and how it sits next to sentiment and cited sources is the monitoring guide. The brand-visibility guide explains why competitive presence is part of the outcome, not a separate project.
Prompt Presence reports share of voice on the prompts you track. See it first on a free snapshot, or in the AI Visibility Audit.
